California Department of Tax and Fee Administration

The California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) is the state public agency responsible for administering, assessing, and collecting California's sales and use taxes, fuel taxes, tobacco and alcohol excise taxes, and cannabis fees. While headquartered in Sacramento, the CDTFA runs a dense operational network throughout the San Francisco Bay Area through localized field offices positioned across major urban centers, including San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, and Fairfield.
