The Inlandboatmen's Union of the Pacific (IBU) operates as the largest inland maritime union on the West Coast, serving as the Marine Division of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU). Established in 1918, the labor organization specializes in representing the collective bargaining, safety, and wage interests of mariners across Alaska, Washington, Oregon, California, and Hawaii. Its diverse membership encompasses essential shipboard and shoreside personnel, including ferry captains, deckhands, engineers, tankermen handling petroleum barges, cooks, and terminal agents.
