Kirby Corporation is the premier tank barge operator in the United States, specializing in the bulk domestic maritime transportation of liquid cargoes. Historically focusing on inland rivers, the corporation drastically expanded its blue-water footprint in July 2011 through its $604 million acquisition of K-Sea Transportation Partners L.P., which integrated K-Sea's expansive coastal tank-barge and tugboat fleet as a wholly owned subsidiary to form what is now Kirby Offshore Marine. Globally headquartered in Houston, Texas, the company operates across two distinct operational tracks: Marine Transportation and Distribution & Services.
