Marathon Petroleum Corporation focuses its San Francisco Bay Area infrastructure around the Martinez Renewables facility in Contra Costa County, California. Having completely idled its legacy crude oil processing units at the site, the company transitioned the footprint into a $1.2 billion biobased manufacturing hub operated as a 50/50 joint venture with Neste. The repurposed 850-acre facility leverages an on-site cogeneration plant, dedicated marine terminals, and regional pipeline linkages across the Bay Area to produce and distribute up to 730 million gallons of renewable diesel annually.
