San Francisco Bar Pilots

The San Francisco Bar Pilots is one of the oldest and most elite maritime organizations in the United States, founded in 1850 to ensure safe passage through the treacherous waterways of Northern California. Composed of highly experienced master mariners with specialized training and education, these elite navigators are legally qualified to direct the navigation of massive commercial vessels across the San Francisco and Monterey Bays. Operating 24 hours a day, they service over 200 docks and maritime facilities throughout the region, including the vital ports of San Francisco, Oakland, Richmond, Benicia, Redwood City, Stockton, and Sacramento.
