HSC Working Groups

Explanation

The Maritime Evaluation for Risk, Insight & Trends (MERIT) Working Group brings together experts from across the regional transportation community to evaluate how navigational, environmental, and operational factors influence exposure and system readiness in the San Francisco Bay Region. MERIT reviews and interprets PAWSA 2025 findings alongside other relevant studies, plans, historical records, and operational data to organize exposure factors, identify emerging trends, and translate complex information into clear, actionable insight. The group develops practical recommendations, best practices, and tasking options for the Harbor Safety Committee, supporting coordinated, data-driven decisions that strengthen maritime safety, preparedness, and operational readiness.
